Egypt’s free presidential health initiatives: what each covers and how to use them

A table guide to the initiatives under Egypt’s 100 Million Healthy Lives name: the Ministry’s October 2026 totals, who each one is for and what the official pages say is checked, whether hepatitis C and breast cancer screening are part of it, and where to start.

100 Million Healthy Lives («100 مليون صحة») is the umbrella name for Egypt’s presidential public-health initiatives, which the State Information Service (SIS) compilation of December 2024 describes as free health and treatment services. The Ministry of Health and Population’s figures, reported on 8 October 2026, count 16 of them. Each is aimed at a defined group, such as newborns, pregnant women or adults over 40.

This guide sets out what the official pages say about who each initiative is for and what it checks, whether the hepatitis C and breast cancer screening people search for is part of it, and where to start. It is not a directory of health units and cannot tell you whether you qualify: each initiative decides that. It does not cover «100 يوم صحة» (100 Days of Health), the Ministry’s campaign of that name.

In short:

  • It is an umbrella: 16 initiatives, about 95 million beneficiaries and more than 303.5 million medical services over eight years, in the Ministry’s figures reported on 8 October 2026.
  • The SIS page on the kidney-disease initiative describes its services as carrying no financial burden on the citizen and gives hotline 15335 for inquiries (read 31 October 2026). Confirm the same for the others.

Last checked: 31 October 2026, on the pages listed under Sources. The Ministry’s own initiatives site, 100millionseha.eg, did not open from our connection that day, so the descriptions below follow the SIS’s December 2024 compilation, which for most of them reproduces that site as it stood in September 2024. Groups, figures and phone numbers change, so confirm them before you rely on them.

What is the 100 Million Healthy Lives initiative?

It began in October 2018 as the “mother initiative” to eliminate hepatitis C and screen for non-communicable diseases, and other public-health initiatives followed, according to the SIS compilation of December 2024 (read 31 October 2026). The count differs by date: the Cabinet’s website counted 14 initiatives on 13 November 2024 (read 31 October 2026), and the Ministry’s figures reported on 8 October 2026 say 16.

Read on 31 October 2026. The 2026 figures are the Ministry’s as reported by Masrawy. The Cabinet’s Media Center gave the same totals in a video, with data to the end of September 2026, as reported by Amwal Al Ghad on 20 October 2026, in the same terms: “about 95 million” and “more than 303.5 million”. We could not open an official Ministry or Cabinet page that carries them.

What does each initiative check, and for whom?

The tables follow official pages. “Compilation” means the SIS compilation of December 2024; rows marked “progress section” use the part of it that cites an October 2024 news report. The other two sources are SIS initiative pages updated in 2026. “Who” is the official group in our English words, and text in «» is the source’s own wording. Groups and ages change, so confirm each before you go.

Read on 31 October 2026. These twelve rows are the initiatives we could read about on an official page. They line up with the Ministry’s list of 16 as Masrawy gave it, but that list titles some of them differently (the chronic-disease and kidney initiative is «بداية حياة صحية», newborn genetic screening comes under «مستقبلنا في صحة ولادنا», and the Golden 1,000 Days appear as “100 golden days”) and counts autism detection, which our mental-health row mentions, as an initiative of its own. It also names children’s eye health, care for children with diabetes and treatment for children with spinal muscular atrophy. We left those three out: we found no official description of the first two that we could read, and the compilation’s account of the third dates from September 2024 and concerns who can receive treatment. Ask the hotline about them.

Is hepatitis C screening part of 100 Million Healthy Lives?

The initiative began with hepatitis C, but among the initiatives the SIS compilation describes it is named in two programmes: premarital screening lists it among the diseases it looks for, and the school programme for first-year preparatory pupils tests for it. The Cabinet’s page of 13 November 2024 also lists «مبادرة الكشف المبكر وعلاج فيروس سي» (early detection and treatment of hepatitis C) among its 14 initiatives, but the 16 names Masrawy gave in October 2026 mention hepatitis C only for school pupils. We found no official page we could open that confirms whether adults can be screened at a unit today, so ask the hotline before you go.

Is breast cancer screening part of 100 Million Healthy Lives?

Breast cancer is named in the women’s health support initiative. The SIS compilation says a “health pioneer” gives women awareness on non-communicable diseases, breast cancer and self-examination, and that a clinical examination is done for targeted women over 18. Its progress section adds that the initiative offers examination, treatment and awareness from age 18 for early detection of breast tumours. The cancer early-detection initiative covers women and men from 18. The compilation does not say which tests are used, so ask the unit what will be done at your visit.

How do I use the initiatives, and where do I start?

  • The hotline. The SIS page on the kidney-disease initiative gives «الخط الساخن لمبادرة 100 مليون صحة 15335» (read 31 October 2026), for receiving inquiries. It is not an emergency service: in an emergency, go to the nearest emergency department.
  • The Ministry’s site. The compilation names 100millionseha.eg as its initiatives site. It did not open from our connection on 31 October 2026.
  • Where it happens. The same SIS page says the chronic-disease services run at 3,601 primary care units, and the compilation places hearing-screening devices there too. School screening is organised with the education ministry, and the school hepatitis C programme requires parents’ consent.

Questions to ask the unit or the hotline:

  1. Which initiative fits me, or my child?
  2. What exactly is checked at the visit?
  3. Is anything charged?
  4. When and how do I get the results, and if something is found, where does follow-up happen?

In Egypt: how do the initiatives sit beside insurance and private care?

The initiatives are public-health programmes run by the Ministry of Health and Population, as the SIS compilation describes them. How they sit beside the Health Insurance Organization, Universal Health Insurance and private care is in the map of healthcare in Egypt, with sources and dates. Routine childhood vaccination is not named on the lists we read: its schedule is in Egypt’s childhood vaccine schedule.
